In this module, you are introduced to the overall responsibilities of the DER including their role and how to select service agents. 

Module 2

Policies, Training, and Testing

In this module you are introduced to the policies that apply to training and testing. Topics include, drug and alcohol policy, required testing, drug and alcohol testing, DOT required testing, and the custody and control form. 

Module 3

Alcohol Testing

In this module alcohol testing is covered in detail. Topics include, situations requiring alcohol testing, the two types of testing, the evidential breath test, DER responsibilities, BAT, refusal to test, what to do with a positive test result, the fitness for duty form, and the SAP process. 

Module 4

Recordkeeping

In this module you will learn about recordkeeping including employer responsibilities, which records must be kept for 5, 3, and 1 year, and statistical reports. 

Module 5

FMCSA Clearinghouse

In this module you will learn more about the FMCSA Clearinghouse including what the clearinghouse is, how to report violations, DER reports, the definition of actual knowledge, the role of the C/TPA, SAP responsibilities, and what queries are and when to run queries.
